lamp out light
My lamp out light keeps flashin on and off at randem times iv checked all the lights they work. Could i have a short in the wiring cause a soon as it comes on it goes back off. Its drivin me nuts any help would be grateful.
my truck would do somthing like that to an mine turned out i had bad connections on my front driver headlight. i bought some kind of connection cleaner for where the light harness hooks up to my headlight an cleaned it real well an havent had a problem since
This is a common issue with early year trucks. Most see it as a loose or bad connection at the tail lights although some find it to be one of the filaments in a dual filament bulb in the tail light that is loose but not blown yet.
Charlie - truck - keeps doing this same 'lamp out' scenario. Checked all the lights one day, and they were working fine. The next day, a brake light is out. On & off again - at the moment they are all working. Perhaps poor wiring/loose connection? Or could one bulb be near the end of its life?
The "Lamp Out" light on my dash is sometimes solid, but sometimes flashes....and occassionally is not on at all?! Insight?

I had this problem on and off for months and it drove me crazy. Brake light would go out intermittently and the 'lamp out' light would come on and chime. Even got pulled over for the brake light though the officer let me off with only a warning. Figured it was a short somewhere going to the light but every time I checked I could not find one.
Turns out the bulb, where it plugs in to the housing, was ever so slightly loose and would occassionaly loose contact. Poor manufacturing tolerances I suppose. I solved the problem while pulled over on the side of I-80 one day by making a very thin shim from an aluminum can. It has worked perfectly for nearly a year now.
HTH.

A shim made of an aluminum can? thats hilarious - but if it worked, well....I might just try it!
Today when I was driving around, I noticed the 'lamp out' light would come on the dash when I turned my turn signal on. So, I got out and checked all my turn lights - fine. Then I checked to see if the 4-ways worked (also b/c I had to stop when my dog puked in the truck...lol), and they work fine too! FRUSTRATED.
Dodge = I LOVE your faulty wiring/loose connections. hahah
