Default tipm HELP PLEASE!!!

first of all i just want to say this is a great website with very informative people!! you guys are awsome!!

now to the bad part, i have a 2006 dodge 1500 that i have been having some headlight troubles recently. i have pretty much narrowed down the tipm (10 cent piece of garbage) to be at fault. but recently i borrowed my truck out and the guy left the key on acc overnight and the battery went dead. when he charged it back up now my abs brake and air bag lights are on, and when i plugged it in it said it cant communicate to the module. i have heard reflashing these doesnt hardly ever work but you have to pay 100 bucks wether it works or not. my big question is if i replace this module, what kind of warranty does this tipm have, if chrysler installs it or if i have my independent shop do it? no dealer can really give me a straight answer. it is rediculous that they get 230 to put it in and if you lolly-gagged i think it would take you 1/2 an hour. and i dont want this effin thing to be like a fuse and just buy a new one over and over. any help would be appreciated.

thanks!

Welcome to the site. Just to be sure, have you reset the PCM and made sure the battery passes a load test? As for the TIPM, I will let a few other guys help with that who hav had issues personally

Mine is being replaced as we speak. $1,100 is the cost from the dealer. I have an extended warranty so its covered, but DANG.

If you get in your truck, door closed, and push your tripometer button deal on the cluster, and turn your key to on, what does it say? I just did a thread on mine (look under my created threads, and its the brake/reverse light issue) and posted my codes. If they look like mine, maybe you have TIPM issues

I have to say, I really like $0.10 fuses more than that thing

EDIT: also, after mine went out, started having to charge my battery if it sat around for a day without being driven. Im hoping that the TIPM issue is the problem, but I know that the dealer wants me to buy a new battery myself. We will see if it stops after I get it back.

I doubt it. I know they can do it there though. I am calling about mine today though to tell them to do it before they get my truck back to me. Your numbers could be different depending on how many times you have key cycled since then

That said, the 07 TSBs dont list the amperage issue. I dunno man. Its just crazy for that to happen.

After the swap out the charging Gage is back to normal. Also for the first time ever, the radio plays with the key in the off position until a door is opened.
