Default K&N cold intake and possible torque problems?

2008 doddge ram 1500 hemi.
i have installed a cold intake system on the hemi. i purchased k&N filter intake series 63-1533.

i am experiencing problems with my RPM's increasing while traveling on the highway. ie. i can go betweeen speeds of 55-75 and have it on cruize control. every .3 miles my RPM's will increase about 200-400 RPM's for a few seconds and then go back down... this will continue until i turn off the curize control.

i contacted K&N filter. they said that it could be soemthing with the 'torque' mod. they have no fix for this due to there is no check light displayed.

has anyone else incountered this problem as well ?? or have a recommendation for a fix???

Ive got a Ebay set up and mine does the same thing!! I dont let it worry me too much though havent had any problems yet..
I assumed it was just trying to maintain the speed its been set at thus the constant rise and drop of RPMs

A good way to always check where the issue is would be to put the OEM air housing setup back on. But I suspect the K&N has nothing to do with it.

Yeah, i spoke with K&N tech person... he said the same thing as in the above post. i will just have to deal with the jumps in RMP's.

My truck does this too, and I have the stock air filter housing and filter.

I was under the impression it was something MDS related.

Do any of you guys who have disabled your MDS, have the RPM fluctuations in cruise ?? with or without aftermarket intakes ??

I don't seem to experience this on my '04, or it's not enough that I've noticed it. Of course I've got a lot of mods, so it's apples to oranges.
When I first read this thread I was thinking it could be MDS related or possibly fly-by-wire throttle related. I never really liked fly-by-wire...

I have a K&N CAI with MDS disabled and mine does not fluctuate at all.
