Default 04 hemi seized pulley

Hi all, Pulley #5 in the attached pic locked up on me. I think it is one of the idle pulleys, but i am not certain. Could someone please confirm what part it is and give some detail on replacement?

Im fairly sure i can replace this myself, but i have yet to do any kind of "pulley" work. I am replacing the belt too as it started to melt during the < 60sec the truck was running.

Any and all assistance is most appreciated!!

Hi, had the same one go on me about 2 years ago..
Idler pulley, dont remember part number, but i bought mine at napa(only parts store where im at)

Also easy to replace, take belt off, unbolt old (14-15mm bolt dont remember which) bolt new one on, put belt back on.. Done.. 15 minutes

Just be lucky yours didnt melt on you like mine did, had to get towed home by a ford ..

BUt its a simple job.

Thanks Chris, I actually just got back from the parts store with 2 pulleys and a belt. figured I would replace them both. looks like the lower pulley just shredded somehow. Im actually surprised I didn't get stranded on the highway last night.

Thanks again for the info!!

Changing the idle pulleys is not hard. The just bolt on and off. In fact, you should already have it done by now.....

The pulleys were cake, the belt was a task because the new ones have all the folds in them.

check this out - the two I replaced.

They look fine! A little duct tape, some super glue...

@weedahoe - She sounded like a poorly running diesel for about 10 days, but I honestly thought the fan clutch was crapping out. The only time I smelled anything melting/burning was on Friday as I was leaving for work. started it up and she squeeled like a banshee. needless to say I took friday off work. No better place to break down then in your garage!!

@Mike - I tried using duct tape instead of a new belt, but it was just too damn sticky!! :-D
