I have had the check engine light come on several times. First they changed the egr valve. Next the gas cap. Each time they are getting the same code that says egr valve.i was going to bring it in a third time but the check engine light went off on it's own. Now three months later the check engine light came on with the same error code. Any suggestions? My truck is an 07 hemi 5.7 L. I have tried disconnecting the battery and the check engine light still comes on with the same egr code?

 

What code is it throwing?

 

welcome to the site. It is normal for a CEL to come on and then go off later if nothing trips or triggers the MIL. Please make sure you pull the DTC codes by getting the ODBii scanned for those codes and then post them here so we can help.

Keep an open mind that just because you bought a new part doesnt mean it is a good part.

 

Thanks for your reply. The code is p 1404. I know there are many reasons for why this code appears. Gas cap, EEGR valve etc. The part was purchased through the dealer where I have had my truck serviced. Thanks again
