Default interior now working without keys

I just bought a truck and as i was going to lock the doors when i shut off the engine it didnt lock. i was checking it out and it only works with the ignition to the on position. also the interior lights do not turn on with out the ignition to the on position. I am wondering what could be the problem.

??? If you're trying to lock it with the key in the ignition, it probably won't let you. Could be a bad ignition switch.

Sounds like it could possibly be the ignition switch. What year truck is it?
