Default Mile 16,700: wear and tear report ('05 ram 1500 QC)

Well folks, our truck is already at mile # 16,700. A Whole sixteen thousand, seven-hundred miles on the ticker. The engine is running great, it gets about 20 MPG on the highway (where it lives obviously). Dodge just sent the card telling us it needs it's first oil change, but we've had it changed in 2500 mile intervals, so it's already had it changed several times. It has a few dings and dents on the body, mostly from being parked at the airport remote parking lot for days on end.

We just used the hitch for the first time this weekend to haul our boat, getting the lights to work was a PITA (the trailer's shoddy wiring system didnt help), i told my dad about the T/H button, he didnt think we would need it with only a 17 foot boat, but sure enough, it started hunting for gears, and the button fixed that very quickly. The trailer didnt have any effect on the handling nor the chassis, but because we used to use a late 70's gmc dually to haul the boat, we had to adapt to having a turning radius that had at least 12 feet hacked off of it, which took awhile (we did several unneeded wide turns in the adaptation process), and it had no problem getting around with me behind the wheel backing the trailer into the water. the humongous mirrors helped termendously, but having the ram sitting 6" taller than the dually, we had to use a 3.5" drop hitch to get the trailer at a "safe" ride height and lower the tailgate to see the trailer with the boat off it (something we didnt have to do with the dually). +

While sitting at the parts store (nneded new o-ring for the fuel cap on the boat), i found the storage compartment under the center front seat that can easily fit a 12 pack, albeit dry, with the center seat down.

The chrome rims still look great, we take it to a oil depot where they change the oil and run the truck through a highly advanced carwash that make the daisies mirror perfect. The drain ports in the front of the bed come in handy, and the interior stays bone dry. My dad keeps all his work stuff on the folding metal platform with the back seats folded up, so all 3 of us cram in the front bench, but we just bought a toneau cover that will be installed in 2 weeks which will fix that problem. The tires are showing incredible wear, they might actually make it to mile 50,000 at this rate (thanks to the official sign of texas).

That under seat storage is great. I am going to do a computer install in the truck and its going under the seat. Yes I am a geek with a HEMI heart.

Lift up the center section of the front seat and reach down towards the floor. Feel for a handle on the front. Not all of thtrucks have it - mine for one - but then it's base.

I call that my "smugglers hold" lol just in case I need to hide something, since there are people that don't know its there. My truck came from the dealer with DVD's in the headrest, so I'm considering install a PS2 or something under the seat......... someday.

Did you guys know there is storage in the rear too underneath the fold flat things? There are little cubby holes on each side, I found those the other day, thought it was pretty sweet.
