Default Wheel bearing hub.

I got new tires and they noticed and showed me a little play on bearings.
I did a search and came up with this post https://dodgeforum.com/forum/3rd-gen...placement.html.

I want to make sure I have all the necessary equipment handy. He says a 35mm or 1 3/8 deep socket for the axle nut. Would that be the same on my 2004? I thought I read somewhere else it was 1 1/16th needed. The chilton manual kind of sucks. Lot's of good youtube diy videos on these hubs for everything except 3rd gen Rams. According to chilton I have to remove driveaxle. Any helpful hints or links appreciated, thx.

I assume you have a 4wd. You can download the service manual from the links in my signature links

Axle nut is 36mm. 1 5/16 or 1 3/8 also work. u will need to also take the upper ball-joint nut off and seperate it from the steering knuckle. You do not have to remove the CV joint. (drive axle). U have to only remove it from the bearing, which is useually pretty easy. First u are going to spray some penatrating oil on everything that needs to come off!!!!!!! I use PB Blaster. Great stuff!! make sure u spray alot of Blaster between the hub and steering knuckle!!!! Then take off the caliper and rotor. Then take ur 36mm socket and loosen the axle nut. Leave the nut on the axle threads, u will need to whack the axle out of the bearing later! Then lossen the top ball joint nut. Leave the nut on the ball joint stud!!!!! Then get a crow bar and pry on the frame of the truck and upper control arm, at the same time have someone smack the steering knuckle right were the ball joint stud goes through with a big mallet of some sort. DO NOT USE A STEEL HAMMER!!!!! U will ruin your steering knuckle!!!!!!!! It is only aluminum!!!! After a few hard wacks the ball joint should seperate from the steering knuckle. Previously I told u to leave the nut on the ball joint stud. Remember??? Leaving the nut on the ball joint stud prevents a violent release of the ball joint when u whack the steering knuckle with your MALLET!!!(NOT HAMMER) After you've released the ball joint u can get at the 3 bearing hub bolts behind the steering knuckle alittle easier. I think they are 15mm. Take them out. Now u are going to whack the axle out of the bearing. Make sure u left the axle nut on the axle threads so u dont muck up the threads!!!! Once u feel a pop, the axle should be loose from the bearing. Now get a hammer and chisel and try to smack it between the hub and steering knuckle and pry at the same time!!!! If this doesnt work u will probably have to get an air chisel. This works great!!!!! That bearing and hub assembly should pop right out!!!! When u install the new bearing and hub assembly make sure u put grease on the axle splines before u put the axle back in the new bearing!!!!! Any more questions PM me!!

Yeah, I use anti-seize on everything after spending hours whacking on my rotors last year.

My left side is going bad on my 08 2wd now (same as 4x4). The right one went at about 30K now the left one is going @ 44K. Must have got a bad batch or something. They should last longer than that!!
