Hello all...

I purchased a used canopy (topper, cap, etc - depends on what you call them) and am now trying to get the 3rd brake light on it working. I did some searching and it looks like I need to find a CHMSL (center high mount stop lamp) wire to tie into for the brake light to work.
The problem is... I am not sure if my truck has one or where it is. I did take a quick look tonight under the back (around the spare) but didn't see anything. I will look again tomorrow once I can see better.

It's a 2006 RAM 1500.

If anyone has done this before or knows there this wire is please let me know.

I did some more digging around under the truck... found a single wire (white/tan) that comes out of the split loom behind the spare tire and is just tied up. It is labeled ES-1.
Guess I will have to get my meter back from my buddy and see what this wire is for. It is bundled with the wires for the taillights, license plate light and trailer plug wires.

 

I don't know why they would run that to the back of the truck since it is run in inside the cab to the light.

 

Ive seen people tap into the trailer harness to grab brake signal for the cap light.
