Two issues
Hey fellas maybe someone can help me out. I am having two issues probably not related. First and most important is I have a somewhat low and erratic idle at idle only. it doesnt seem to effect acceleration that i can hear or feel without any instruments or gauges and nothing on the tach. at idle its around 5-600 and feels like a slight miss. I have changed the plugs, wires, upper o2 sensors and changed gas and ran some sea foam through the tank and the intake system. no difference in the idle. the performance went up some from the maint. is all. so far the truck is pretty much stock with amsoil oil and a gibson exhaust.
All maint is done when required, it has 106000 miles on it almost all highway miles. its a 2005 laramie qc 4wd, 5.7.
The second issue, well its always kinda been there but its annoying as heck and I need to get rid of it. the transmission shifts like crap and almost never seems to be in the power band, for example like when it shifts to 3rd its almost lugging. it has hard sometimes late upshifts and downshifts or takes the pedal almost all the way down for it to kickdown. I have had the regular filters changed and a fluid exchange done. I have not had the inline filter changed that everyone mentions.
is this normal or a problem? would a good tuner with a trans tune fix it or would i be better off doing the line pressure boost and getting a tuner that only does the engine? short term its going to be mostly bolts on stuff, long term i have plans to do all the good stuff like heads and cam and intake, TB that sort of thing. long term being about a year out. I have another project car that is soaking up the money right now.
btw anyone know of an excellent tranny rebuilder anywhere near nashville? I have a 1972 AMC Javelin with an AMC 360 and a 727 torqueflite. the tranny is pretty much stock and needs the good stuff.
let me know.

I retuned mine to stock to get some warranty work a couple of days ago, and I had forgotten how crappy it shifts stock. I run the Diablosport Predator and it shifts so much better. You don't have to floor it to kick back out of 5th anymore.
As for the slight miss at 500rpm, this is pretty normal. I wouldn't worry about that.
