I used them back in the day when Big O used to sell them. They peel off just like semi retreads. No thanks. When they do let loose, they often take either a fender or bedside with them. How much you saving when you have to do all of that bodywork.
I am not risking trashing my truck just so save some cash. You get what you pay for and tires is not something you want to cheap out on!!!!

Thats one thing, but the idea that keeps me buying new is not wanting to trash my ***.

When these things blow out, they dont just make a bang flop flop noise, if that tire is on the back of the vehicle the car will swerve and yaw back and forth wildly. Happened to me once at low speed, not something I ever want to experience at high speed or ever again, it has the element of surprise on you.

Ironically though, its not just retreads that peel. Most tires that are run at too low of a pressure will self destruct from the inside and eventually leave their tread on the side of the road, or more recently Im noticing, in the middle of the road.

I guess what is instilled in me is my defining point. My dad drove semi trucks upwards of 20 years, many of those years he owned his truck and was responsible for the maintenance and upkeep. One of the ways for an owner operator to save $$$$ was retreads on the back 8, and he always replaced with new. I asked about retreads and he the first reply he gave me was that some things just need to be done right, and the second reply was that while he could afford to save some money, he couldn't afford any legal ramifications from trying to be cheap.
