Default Random Stalling when Cold and coming to a stop

I've searched around here quite a bit on these issue but I can't seem to fine anything that might explain the problem.

The first issue I have found some details on, and it has to do with when I fill my gas tank up full when the truck is cold, the truck will stall as I am coming to a stop. It only happens once or twice until I use up some gas or the truck warms up and then I'm fine. Also it starts up right away each time it stalls and I never get a check engine light or code.

The other issue is again when the truck is cold, if I accelerate hard to a traffic light or something and then have to brake hard, it'll stall, almost like it get's messed up as it down shifts or something, and it's a bitch to try a steer that thing with no power steering. This is the issue I'm more concerned about cause I haven't found any posts that are similar to this problem and again it'll start right back up after it stalls with no codes.

I guess the issues could be linked but I have no idea. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

sounds like its dropping fuel or spark until it get warm. which makes no since to me because normally its the other way around. so i have a few questions.
~ what have you dont to the motor?
~ did you have to extend leads for fuel pump?
~ does is do this below full?
~ how does it react under WOT when cold. is it sluggish or super snappy. any different then when it warm.
~ have you done any test as far as fuel pressure or looked to see if any green desease between connectors.
~ any other info you can give me would help. auto start systems aftermarket alarm upgrades pop doors for shaved handles anything.

my boss has the same truck and Similar mods with the same issue but we cant seem to figure out issue. so any help you can throw are way we will return the favor.

thank you
matt

Had a Grand Caravan that did something like that only it didn't have anything to do with the fuel being full, but the EGR Valve was bad. Just a thought.

-I haven't really done much to the motor other than a K&N filter. Other than that the engine is pretty much stock.
-As far as the fuel pump I haven't extended anything. This truck had the same issues before I put the lift on.
- It doesn't seem to do it if I fill up less than full, however it will still stall if I accel hard and then come to a quick stop no matter how much fuel I have in the tank.
- I tried it in tow/haul and it didn't seem to do it, but it is so random when it does it, it is hard to says it is that. Performance wise it runs the same cold or warm, it is a little quicker WOD but as far as temp goes it runs the same warmed up vs cold.
- No other mods other than what is listed in my sig. When I bought the truck it had the flow master on it, everything else I've done within the last year or so. But the truck has had the same issues the whole time. It has 95000 miles so maybe it just needs to be completely serviced. I dunno, I was hoping I could try to fix it first before I had to take it anywhere and spend a ton of money on stuff that didn't really need to be changed.

There was a TSB out for the '04s at one time for a random stalling issue. PCM flash I believe was the fix and I think all the flash did was replace the stock Open Loop Table with one that had a slightly higher idle.

Also could be EGR, Throttle body or anything else that can choke breathing down. Might just be when you hit the throttle it can force enough to run fine, but at low rpm you are not getting quite enough air. Dirty TB can cause a whole slew of driveability issues and I've seen trucks run like sh*t and need an EGR and never generate a code...

Yeah I was kind of assuming the dirty throttle body too after reading some of the other posts on here. I'll give that a try and see what happens, that'd be great if that was the only issue, but I'm never that lucky.

Default Random Stalling

I had the same exact problem with my 2006 Ram earlier this year! I replace the ERG valve first and didn’t solve the problem. Posted on here and got some great advice to clean the throttle body which I did with no luck. I found a thread on the net that suggested it was a transmission filter issue? So dropped my pan and replaced the filter to find out it had double gaskets! The thread specifically talked about the importance of the gasket being seated right in order for the transmission to work properly. It is a round rubber like gasket with a metal ring that seals the throat of the filter into the transmission. I honestly didn’t think mine was a transmission issue, but is perfect after the fix now!

I have an 2001 ram 1500.5.2 L Mine started stalling in reverse. Then it got worse. Stalls when its cold in park, reverse, drive and N. If u give it gas it continues to run but starts bucking. Give it more gas and after awhile runs fine, no stalling. Takes about 10-15 minutes and it will run fine. We have a new battery, temp sensor, o2 sensors, cam sensor, ignition coil and cleaned throttle body, checked fuel pump and im still stumped. Still stalls. Any ideas?
I had someone tell me to take out the theft chip while truck is running and if it does not turn the truck off the mass airflow sensor could be bad. Any one dealt with this before?
thanks!
