So I decided to call a Chevy dealer just for S&G, on a Silverado 1500. I figured since they have these GM special prices, I should see how good it really was.

With the discount the truck came out to about 28k. For a 3 year lease, 15k miles, and just up fronts down, it was $455 a month. I could not belive it. That truck has crap for res. value! How much without GM employee diso****? $500 a month? What a joke.

In comparison the 05 ram I was looking at was about $325 a month, 15k miles, and only up fronts down. (I've decided to wait for the 06)

GM is a joke. When I started looking for a new vehicle, I went to the GM dealership, because originall I was going to buy a car. My wife recenlty bought a Chevy car, and after all the problems she had at the dealerhip, I should have known better than to even walk back in that place. She went in told them what she wanted, they didn't have one on the lot, but they ordered one from another dealership in a neighboring city to be shipped in. While we were waiting for it to be shipped, some douchebag at the other dealership sold the frickin' car! We had to wait like 4 weeks to get the car, and during our month-long wait, they said "oh we're so sorry for the trouble, we'll discount the freight charge for you." Then when the car finally arrived, they refused to eat the shipping charge, instead they tinted her windows for free... It was nice, but not what was promised.

Anyways, I went to the dealership a few months ago, and told them I wanted an Impala SS with a 3.8L Supercharged engine, cloth interior, no 6-disc changer, no on-star, etc etc etc... They said they would get one and call me back. They never called me, and I went down the street to a Chrysler dealership and bought my RAM.

 

Wow you almost bought a Impala rather then a Ram? The only problem I have with the whole GM thing, is they are an American company. Yeah we can say Ford and Chevy suck, but really we should hope people buy more from the big 3 then Toyota or Nissan.

GM needs to (and should have done so a LONG time ago) consolidate their duplicate brands. How stupid is it to sell a GMC truck and a Chevy truck…when they are the same thing! That goes for the SUV's and cars as well. Frustrating to see a American company fail like that, but I'm sorry I just can't buy an overpriced outdated truck.

Can't wait for the 06 Ram!

 

I love the people that argue that gmc trucks are better than chevy.....LOL I oringinally set out to buy a new 1500 and test drove a ram and found the ram to be way better and way more for the money....the chevy is really getting dated and even the ls felt like a cheap work truck to me

 

I have not driven the Chevy, and don't need to. I like the Ram...the thing is so tight and well built. I did test a F150 for a week as a rental. The 4-speed tranny just killed me! It was a dog and felt odd.

Chevy, and surprise, GMC, are going to have new trucks next model year I belive. The price will probably be insaine. At least Dodge will probably still have great rebates on their 06's.

 

why do they sell the same truck with a different logo? What if chrysler started making a copy of the ram? Ford recently duped the F-150 with the lincoln truck.

 

Ford and Lincoln are definitely different markets. Lincoln is way more upscale and supposedly refined. Besides the Navigator and Aviator counterparts to Ford's Expedition and Explorer have not hurt sales of the other. Remember the Lincoln Blackwood? Sales were horrible, so horrible they quit production. I wonder how the Mark LT (the name of the Lincoln) is gonna do.

 

Actually Chevy has the highest resale value of the big 3!

Well.. it wasn't all TOO long ago Daimler Chrysler had their own DUPLICATES, PLYMOUTH and DODGE. I'm sure you can play the name game with all the dupes. At least they wised up? The Chrysler mini vans and the Dodge are like previously mentioned even though they might come off the same assembly line with different badges. I know my Aunt wouldn't be caught dead (rest her soul) at a DODGE dealership but would gladly cruise the Chrysler joint with no problem. You can get JUNK in any vehicle. To me it's all in how you are treated and how well the vehicle is diagnosed and fixed without you having intimate knowledge of what the service managers personal life.
