Default rear wheel antilock truck has 4 wheel antilock hubs and wiring.

Ok, so my 2004 ram 1500 fell victim to needing front bearing hubs replace last week (at 50k miles). So I bought 2 hubs from auto zone (non antilock) and took the truck to my friends place to have him do the work. Once he got the hubs off he noticed my truck had antilock hubs and wiring on the front. So i had to buy the more expensive hubs. Thing is, my truck is only real wheel antilock, per my window sticker and winter driving experence. Is it possible to just turn the front antilock system on? Did Daimler Chrysler just install the wrong front suspension assembly, then just let it go? not sure if I have all the 4 wheel antilock equip. but I know I have the wheel speed sensors and the wiring running from them into the truck.

^^ ditto.
Also, putting ABS hubs on a non-abs vehicle is cost prohibitive. They are the same hubs and will work the same, just cost you more for something you don't need. I woudn't go pulling the back off or anything unless your cruise isn't working.

And you can get them cheaper on Ebay if you can wait for parts.

$130 at my local Autozone. I had mine done under warranty. They also replaced the outer tie-rod end at the same time. They had the darn thing priced at like $280. Glad I didn't have to pay for it!!

Thanks guys. Just didn't realize the front would have the cruise control sensor. But makes sence. guess the computer can compare front wheel reading with speedo readiing and make sure you are not slipping on ice or something?
