Default another tranny question

my tranny went took a dump today,,, i have an 02 ram 1500 with a 4.7,my question is will a tranny from a 05 ram with a 5.7 fit in my truck. i ask because i can get one from a guy for $350 with 80,000 km on it. and junk yards want around $700. my truck has 315,000 km, so this tranny would be like new to me.

thanks to anyone who can answer this for me.

There is a sticker on the Transmission on the drivers side right below the tcm connector, it should indicate the model # if the sticker is gone the model is also stamped into the casing right below the sticker placement.

You are looking for the 45rfe transmission, the solenoid packs were modified at one point, they have a white connector now, you want one with the black connector to work with your tcm. Either the 45rfe or 545rfe with the black connector should be the same thing.

I just put one in my 02 ram from a Dakota.

It should be ok, the older tranny's needed an adapter plate to install the newer solenoid in it, you have a newer tranny with the newer solenoid so it should be ok, as long as it is the 45rfe or 545rfe ( which your controller will run as a 45rfe).

Good luck, it took me 4 days to change mine on the floor of my office shop. I hope you have better luck or a good friend, I did mine alone, and it was hard, just big & bulky to work with.
