If your a good welder and really careful you could weld a nut onto the lock and then spin it off that way. Put some wet shop rags around where your welding to keep the heat down. My rims were fine after, no marking or anything from welding. Had to do that to mine when the dealership lost my factory lock key. I found out the hard way I didnt have one though along the side of the road, there were a few choice words. Needless to say I dont have any locks on now, all normal lugnuts

you can buy a special socket for removing lock nuts,, i had to use them before. it just goes on your rachet like a socket, it has reverse threads in it and as you try to remove the nut it tightens up and removes you nut.. the first time this happened to me i went to a local muffler shop and they have the same tools. they come in different sizes

good luck

I have one of those lock removal sockets too, I can't remember where I got it.
If you get a locking lug removal tool, make sure you have spare lugs prior to using the removal socket - it will wreck your locks.

I don't bother with lug locks for two reasons:
*I was able to get a removal tool
*locking lugs are a pain for the same issue you had.

Much like Bent said first make sure you have replacement lug nuts or locks. I have broken the locks and keys before and have had sucess getting them off with a regular socket. Get a socket you dont care much for or one with a lifetime warranty and hit it on the lock with a hammer. Turn it off with a breaker bar or impact wrench. With the impact wrench its much easier. After I broke my first lock about 3 years ago on my wifes car I just removed all of them, they are covered by insurance so take them.

I have used an oversized socket before. I was thinking 21mm maybe? Hammer it over the lock.

Impact wrench will do the trick. Take it to any tire place and they can get it off for you. I also stopped using lock nut 10 years ago after learning the hard way in off the highway in the Bronx, NY.

Yeah, I had to use a 12 point 21mm to get mine off once after I lost the lock. A week after I got them i found the lock.

I had a flat in my work Suburban once, broke the jack lifting the truck and had to wedge a log under the rear axle and back up to lift the rear end so I could remove the rim, this was easier to deal with than the time I sheared the head off McGuard wheel lock lug off of my RAM. That's when I got the removal tool, and shortly after that, 4 McGuard lug-locks were promptly disposed of and replaced with normal lugs.
If someone wants to steal my rims and rubber, then they can go riight ahead - I'd welcome the opportunity to catch them anyway.

I've seen 3 methods: the socket method, the BFH (usually last resort) and the vice grips method to get it to turn.
