OK, got word back.

They did a smoke test on the intake and smoke was billowing out from the intake manifold. Not the intake box that mounts to throttle body, but the actual intake manifold that attaches to heads/block.

My intake manifold has a huge split in it.

Would love to put something else, other than the plastic one, in place of it.

They are on backorder, so I am checking to see if there is some aftermarket replacement or somewhere else that sells them.

It gets better....

The replacement intake manifold is on backorder. 200 strong.
Lead time is 2+ months to get a replacement.

Does anyone know if I can use something else?

Seems like remember one of the guys getting an aluminum intake for his, but it was so long ago----------JB Weld isn't a bad solution for a temp fix if the split isn't too bad, you might consider it until you get something worked out. It would give time to check around first----dealers will rob you blind

Located a replacement intake from a salvage yard 1000 miles away.

The main issue turned out to be a broken valve spring.

Went ahead and replaced them all to try to avoid a revisit of this same issue.

Default my 03 idles at 1700 rpm's

I have a 2003 1500 with the 4.7 in it.
I had the comp flashed at a dealer and about 2 weeks later it started to idle very high and gave a code saying that the idle air control valve is bad. I have tried replacing it with 6 different ones and no luck. the guys at my parts house put the diagnostic on it and it shows that my throttle is at 11% while sitting in park. So we replaced the throttle position sensor. tried 3 of them, none made a change.
as a side note I also have had to replace the cylinder 5 coil pack 2 times since the dealer flashed the comp.

I am ready to pour fuel on it and lite the match.
CAN ANYONE HELP??????

Current codes are:
2108, 2172 and 2106 twice.

2003 Ram 1500 5.7
60k miles
Haven't had any problems until now.

History of problem:
Drove home to/from work as usual. All was fine until I was about 1/8 mile from home. Right when I turned on my street, the Hemi started to run like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

It was everything to get it backed into my garage. Misfiring, stalling and wouldn't stay running unless I kept my foot on the pedal.

So there it was....a heap, but thankfully in my garage.
I pulled codes and got P0108, which is high voltage-map sensor.

Off to the dealer I went to get a new map sensor.
Replaced map sensor and problem remained.
I cleared the code and it didn't come back.

I figured I had something in the fuel, so got fuel system cleaner and tried my best to keep her running to get it through the injectors. No mosquitos for miles while I did this. The truck ran major rich and was stinking out the neighborhood.

I figured I'd do the basics...
So I changed spark plugs and wires and cleaned the throttle body.

Put everything back together and started her up. Still ran like crap, but would stay running without foot on gas pedal.

Shut her down and disconnected the neg. battery to reset computer.

Hooked everything back up and started her up.
Same as before, but had a nasty backfire.
That didn't sound good.....and now pushing on the gas does nothing.
Shut her down and checked everything out. No clue.
Checked codes and had P2172 and P2108.

Replaced throttle body with new one from Stealership.

Reset PCM again with disco of neg. battery terminal.

Start her up.

Same ****e.....and pushing on the gas still has zero input. Like not having a gas pedal.

So:
Replaced plugs, wires, map sensor, throttle body and checked and rechecked all wires/hoses.

Stumped.
I have this same exact issue!!
I replaced plugs, wires, and 2 coil packs (which broke while taking wires out).
I tested the coil packs. They all showed the same style spark as the brand new pack.
Cleaned throttle body.
Did a make shift smoke test on the intake. (did not see any smoke come out).
Did a Compression check. All cylinders ranged from 175-195. Of course this a cold engine. Starting at #2 cylinder and ending with #7. Leaving the plugs out as i go.

I suspect a broken spring, but not sure after the compression check.

Any suggestions?
