Default Headers

I have a 03 Dodge Ram Hemi and wondering if I should go with shorty headers or is it worth spending the extra money and get the full header. Thanks in advance.

I'd recommend not wasting time and money on "shorties." Typically, gain, if any, is only at the high end.

For more useful power increases get the longest tube header you can find, with compatible exhaust, and open up the intake, as well. The ads for such systems are usually a bit over-hyped, but an honest 10% increase would be a realistic minimum to expect with such a set-up.

All the best.

Just curoius if anyone knew the difference in horsepower it makes from shorties to long tube? Is there a difference in sound? How much of a price difference is there?

I know the full headers that I found were around 1200 and shorties from 400 -800 depending on what you get. I know full headers get more horsepower just asking if they were worth the money.

lately i've been hearing mid length is the best "power wise" than both shorties and long tubes. I have no idea why though... Is there any truth to this? so far the only ones i've found are jba, dougs and some no name brand on ebay going for less than 300 bucks. Has anyone ordered form hopupracing.com. check out their dodge ram section they have a lot of sale stuff their headers are in a good price range from the 800-1200 $ price i've been seeing.

take a look at the Edelbrock ti-tech. They are quoting a gain of 28 horsepower and over 30lb ft of torque on the hemi. The are around 400 bucks and supposidly they deal with heat better than most headers. Hmmm, you cant beat that and all from a reputable manufacture.

You might want to look at the Dynatech Supermaxx headers too. They come with the Y-pipe and longtube headers. They are pricey though.
