Question need exhaust info please

I am planning on getting my exhaust done in a couple of weeks, but I am still not sure of a couple issues. First, I hear a lot about having an x pipe put in. Is it necessary? Is that supposed to go between the cat and muffler? Second, I also hear about removing and not removing the resonator(s). Any opinions and how many resonators are there?

not sure what the 06 has for resonators but since your truck probably has the mds you might not want to go with a loud exhaust cause it will sound funny once it cuts out to 4 cylinders. if i was you i would go with magnaflow. for my exhaust it was stock up to the muffler and i got a single in and dual out muffler sounded good wasn't really loud unless i was on the throttle.

You only need the "X" pipe if you're installing two mufflers. I don't recommend leaving it stock up to the muffler, as the stock "Y" pipe is very restrictive. Just take a quick look under your truck and you'll see what I mean. If you want a "true dual" system, go dual pipes from the cats to a dual in/out Magnaflow. The muffler acts as the "X" pipe, which would equalize any differences in pressure side-to-side. Also, the Magnaflows are the best performance with the least amount of drone, according to most every HEMI owner I've talked to. To minimize the amount of drone, I would also go with a longer muffler body, like a 22", and have it installed under the bed. I have a 4.7L with a very short 11" Magnaflow, and even I get some droning at highway speeds. It's not so bad that the radio can't drown it out though

I already have the muffler. I have the flowmaster 50 hd for the hemi. It is single in/out. I wasnt planning on doing anything fancy with the tailpipes, just want to keep it clean looking. So to avoid any drone issues etc....how should I have this set up under the truck?

Send that muffler back it's gonna drone in the cab real bad and give you a migrane!!!
Besides that, it actually flows a little less than the stock muffler!!
It will also be rusted away in a couple of years. Take the advise of people who know first had and get a Magnaflow or even a cherry bomb.

Any loud exhaust is gonna sound crappy. Much like a jake brake on a semi. If you have a tuner and turn off the MDS, then that won't be an issue, but the Flowmaster will drone bad regardless.

lxman is right, I just put a flowmaster on my Hemi a couple of weeks ago. I went on a camping trip and the kids couldn't sleep and I actually pulled over and shut the truck off cause the drone was killing me. That things coming off this weekend and going with a cherry bomb.

i put a 3" in dual 3" out flowmaster 40 on my 07 hemi, next to no drone on the highway but LOUD AS HELL when you put your foot in it, my 07 had 2 resonators and a muffler, one resonator before the muffler and one on the tail pipe, got rid off everything except cats, tail pipes exit at the corner of each side of the bumper with 5"MBRP tips, looks and sounds awesome. i then painted the full exhaust and muffler with BBQ paint which i was told by the exhaust shop it makes them last much longer, and i have had the system on for almost a year now and the flowmaster still has NO rust on it and thats with canadian winters with salt and crap.

connor.
