Hey guys i have a 2003 ram 1500 2wd. it's lifted (ya i know, lifted 2wd are pointless, i have a 4x4 also). so here's my issue, the lift i have on it is a rough country 6 inch suspension lift. after about a year of having this lift both my front unit bearings when out. i replaced them and now just 3 months later they're out again! there has to be a solution other than just constantly replacing them. has anyone had this problem? is it possible to put 2500 unit bearings on? if so, are there many differences and problems I'll have? just so i know before i buy them. or another solution?

Welcome to the site.
I dont think it is the lift as much as I think it may be coincidental or just bad bearings. Ive had my RC 6" lift on along with additional components to give me 9" of susp lift total and I am at 78k with 24" rims and 36" tires and still got the OEM wheel bearing hubs.
On a side note, my kids TV went out. I borrowed one from my dad for them to use until I got another. about 3 weeks later that one went out. I bought a new 32" LCD for them and within a month it went out too.
Just bad luck sometimes bro. Life is a roller coaster

Owensue- yes i did have yet ANOTHER alignment done. i say this because i had probably 5 alignments because my front tires were wearing soooo bad on the inside. before i replaced the unit bearing.
weedahoe- thank you for the welcome! and it may not be the lifts fault but i do know that the elavation transers the weight differently and causes heavy weight to be pushed forward more when you're stopping. i cringed when i have to stop really hard because i can just imagine what's going on up down there.
i guess i just really want to know if a 2500 4x4 unit bearing will fit the same on a 1500 4x2 so i don't have to shell out money every couple months. or maybe if you know someone that has had the same problem and found a solution

Just a note, my 2wd is stock and both of my "hub assembly" bearings failed by 45K miles. It just happens. Mine got fixed under warranty. Bearing just fail sometimes and you may never find the root cause.
I'm pretty sure that the 2500 stuff is totally different since the 4x4's use a solid front axle and the 2wd hubs are going to be larger.

Try a different bearing. If your using a cheaper bearing try a timkin once. Try buying one from a different place. Like weed said some things just suck. I know in my car I had a bad stretch of three alternators and two hub bearings over a two year span. Sometimes you get a crappy lot of items.
