Default RPM works when it wants

The truck has been sitting here and there during the weeks b/c of gas prices a little up and also don't wanna put too many miles on it but i did notice that when i started up the truck the other days the rpm gauge wasnt working. I took it around the block and i still nothing. I accidently hit a small pot hole and sure enough it started working but then about 10min later went back down to 0. Has anyone had this similar problem before. Im expecting it might be a plug issue, PCM or just a bad cluster? Thanks

I would take the instrument cluster (IC) out and check the connections of the harness plugs in the back first and see what you got.

No because before you ever do any electrical work you ALWAYS de-energize what you will be working on. In other words, disconnect the battery.
