Default Choices..choices

I can either get a new loaded black quad cab w/hemi 2x4, or I can get a 04 red hemi quad 4x4 with 10,500. I'm leaning toward the 2x4 because I like the idea of new and I really don't need a 4x4 here in florida. Plus towing is my main need. what do y'all think?

I use my 4x4 all the time so the I wouldnt even think about a 2wd truck. IMO, 2wd trucks are almost useless, its like taking the versatility out of a truck. There are two types of truck owners: those with 4x4 and those that wish they had 4x4. Its the guys that have 2wd that always say a 2wd truck can do anything a 4x4 can with the right driver. Thats complete BS. 4x4 is what got my truck, family, friends, camping gear and my boat up an 8% grade in powder Sierra dirt over this last weekend. The 2wd behind me got stuck. HA HA to that guy.[sm=icon_rock.gif]

I tend to think like you too... buy new rather than getting someone elses problems. However, I've seen a number of my friends get good deals this way with no regrets. Do what you feel is most comfortable for you.

I would encourage you to get the limited slip diff on the 4x2 if that is the way you are going. I hear a lot of guys without the LSD complain about spinning one tire with all that Hemi power.

I understand your dilemma, but as soon as your drive you new truck it will be used as well, but with just a few less miles than the 4x4. Also, you will likley get $4,000 - $6,000 more for a 4X4 come trade-in or resale time. Maybe not in Florida, but that's the difference they bring up here in farm country with snowy winters.

Just something else to consider.

All we can do is tell you what "we" would do, but man I wouldn't even think twice about it. I would take that "slightly" used 4x4. how much damage could be done tot hat thing with only 10,500 miles? I understand that you don't use 4x4, but man when you need it and you have that 4x2 you will be kicking yourself.

If you don't NEED a 4x4 don't waste resources on it, extra weight, complexity, etc. You also didn't explain "slightly" used. This varies tremendously from person to person. New, is simply usually better.

All the best, no matter what you choose.

I

I have to laugh that 2wd is useless....... I do property maint and have driven nothing but 2wd trucks for years thru every snow storm and never had a problem .......I would never even consider owning a 4wd truck. Unless someone really plans on going offroading its a waste of money.
