Default Y-Pipe vs Flowmaster muffler vs X-pipe

hey i got an 05' 1500 hemi and was wondering if taking off the flowmaster muffler and putting y-pipe in produces more power? and is it possible to x-pipe my truck instead of y-pipe?

Putting in pretty much anything in place of a Flowmaster will increase the exhaust flow. Will it increase power enough to tell anywhere but on a dyno, I would kinda doubt. You will see gains by cutting out the factory "Y" pipe as it's VERY restrictive.

As far as adding another, better "Y" or an "X" or even an "H" pipe is all do-able, depending on how much cutting you want to do and if you have access to a pipe bender and have some welding skills (or are willing to pay a shop to do it)...

Heck, give it a little more time and the Flowmaster will rot and fall off on it's own

A good flowing muffler will sound better than no muffler at all.
