Default How difficult is a leveling kit install?

Just wondering if I should order the leveling kit for my 06 2wd ram 1500. That is the only thing I don't like about that truck. The front end sits so low and it hits on rocks and ruts in the road. Do you need any special tools to do this?

These are the two I have been looking at from performance accessories. They both say they will fit an 06 2wd ram but I'm not sure the difference.

4x2s and '06+ 4x4s are a little tougher than the '02-'05 which basically just require a bolt crank or a replacement of the torsion key.

Coil overs use a coil spacer and the shock/coil must be removed. Still not a very hard task. Basic hand tools except you may want a coil spring compressor (some guys just use a big C-clamp). The compressor is usually available for rent at most auto parts stores either for free or a small fee...

Make sure you don't buy the one in your second link, that's for a 4x4.

At second glance, the picture in the first link looks correct, but the description is for a 2500-3500. I would call and make sure those will fit your 1500. Something tells me the product in the picture may not be the same as what you would actually be purchasing.

Taking the front end apart and putting in the parts to lift is not hard.

Another way to lift other than the coil spacers is to use lift spindles which are more expensive but give a better lift overall. That are about 270 a set. Either way, dont forget the alignment afterwards

4x4 uses struts in the front, 4x2 is just shocks. Mounted different as well.

yea well lifting an 06-08 2wd is a ton different than the previous years. If you do a little searching, you will see the problems that are attributed to the UCA mainly. It comes in contact with the spring bucket because it is so thick

Someone put on a readylift the other day and says it rides like stock. Its over $300 I think. Its a driveway install. The other option is the spindles like weed mentioned. I just installed them. Overall I think they are quite a bit easier than the spacer install and they are only $270 including shipping.

Heres my 07 2wd with a 2.5in level, 3in spindle, and 3in body.
