Hey,
I have just rolled my truck over 80,000 kms which is approx 49000miles. I have replaced the factory deck and run one 10" sub, serviced my tranny, converted the engine to full synthetic, flow pro muffler dumping at the rear axle, new brakes and tune up. I was heading to the cabin may long and the line up out of town was thirty minutes. With all the stop and go my temp gauge started to rise to 3/4!!! and rising. I cranked the heat in the cab and it balanced out. Once I hit the highway I was fine but now when I drive the city I notice the temp still elevates with idling too long.
Any insite on this issue would be much appreciated.

Bad clutch fan, low coolant, worn-out coolant, air in the line, blockage all could cause the issue...

With the motor warmed up (but off), can you turn the fan by hand? It should be difficult, if not impossible. I suspect you'll be able to turn the fan fairly easily. If so, it's time for a clutch or an e-fan.
