Thermostat/Cooling
I want to install a thermostat that operates at a 165 degrees. Will this hurt my engine or help it run smoother? I also want to put a electric fan to replace the big metal fan to gain some horse power. Will this help gain or not? And if so what brand should I get. I have a 2003 Ram 1500 5.9L?

In the defense of stats, I know a guy or two that run 170* stats. Chefred is one of them I think. Sawcut64 might be another.
A lot of us use Ford Taurus e-fans and Hayden fan controllers also. We have the fan info and stat info all in the FAQs at the top of this section and linked below in my signature. Be sure to check it out and more

Chefred has BIG TIME mods, I wouldn't go that low unless I was doing a truck for the strips...
Here's JasonW's setup on his 2nd Gen with 5.9 engine:
9A maximum draw per fan, 6000 CFM mounted on a professional looking shroud.
Total spent was about $450 if you count the wires and connectors.
These ain't no "junkyard" fans, LOL...
