Thank God mine are still ok but even more thankful I dont have a 4wd. I never heard any good or easy stories about getting those CVs out.

Sorry but I completely missed this thread, had I seen it probably could have saved you the $ on the CVs. Grinding in one direction is almost always hub related and at 145k miles, you have gotten a good 45k miles out of hub bearings than the average.

Good choice on the Moog and Timken parts, they should now outlast the truck.

I know the truck is costing you $ right now, but remember, these "wear" components have gotten you 145k miles and it's still cheaper to over-haul all the wear parts than paying for a new truck...

That's alright Hammer, it didn't hurt to replace them while I had everything apart with that many miles on them.

Don't take my crying about the money the wrong way. Bought the truck brand new and she has performed well for me. I hope to get another 100K from her before I have to bite the bullitt on a new truck and it's payment that comes along for a few years as well.

Hope the info helps some one else down the line.

hmm this may have answered my post. have a similar problem just do not want to replace any parts that i do not need to. that being said it has 75,000 miles so maybe the best bet to replace all of the frontend components while i am in there.
