bad rear tire...where to put the spare?

Ok, now I'm thinking of buying the tires seperately...But they don't want to sell them to me saying ""liability" on a 4x4" with height issues of tires unless buying all 4...I assume they are talking how it changes the gear ratio slightly...but will that 1/8" difference really do much of anything?? What do you guys think??
If you think it'll be fine, I guess I could just take them the rim and tell them the tire I want and say it's for a 2wd truck.

Ok, I know this isn't the best idea...and will prolly look ridonkulous, but what if I were to put two 245 up front and two 285 in back (as long as I promise you guys I won't put it in 4wd) for a few weeks until I can afford the Nittos I want...
would that be like an aweful thing to do...the tire guy said being 4x4 they have the be the same, but I don't see how it would affect anything if 4wd is not engaged...I understand the tire height changes the gear ratio a bit, but some of you guys mentioned in my thread last year that I could put 4.56 in back and leave front 3.55 until finances become available, as long as I don't engage the 4wd...so I don't see why mismatched tires between front and back would be any different, as long as they match on the same axle...am I being retarded, or will the 245s be ok up front for a while?

Here's the first Nitto...
Hopefully this won't cause issues...I have a pretty worn tread 285 and a pretty good tread 285 on rear...hopefully that slight tread height different won't mess with LSD...and I have a pretty good tread 285 up front with the new Nitto...I did think far enough ahead to put both taller tires on the same side (drivers side) to hopefully keep it from dog-tracking

Got the second Nitto today. I now have both Nittos on back and the best Wranglers up front. One question I had was...it was my intention to put one of the Wranglers on the spare rim and sell the other good Wranglers. But my concern is, will a 285/70/17 on the spare rim fit up under the truck. I haven't really looked, just figured a lot of you guys have probably tried this already and can tell me off hand is there is enough clearance.

electronic, but I won't forget...the ONLY reason I would put it in 4x4 is if I get stuck in the mud...in which case as long as the tires are spinning (not rolling, but slipping/spinning), I'll be fine...Any info on the 285 fitting up under the truck as a spare?
(edit) Maybe I wasn't clear, I have all 285/70/17 tires on now, only difference is the tread depth affecting height slightly.
