Default MDS and 9.25" LSD & Other Maint Questions

How can I tell if my 05 Daytona has the Multi-Displacement System and 9.25" Limited Slip Differential? I believe the MDS wasn't on Hemi trucks until 2006, but I thought I read a post from someone that had it on his 2005 (option in 2005?). Just curious on the MDS because I have a slight rumble at idle that is remeniscent of my friends 2010 Suburban with the Fuel Management System where the truck runs on 4 cylinders at idle and has that rough idle feel. My truck seems to run fine, smooth upon acceleration. As for the LSD, if I have it, I want to be sure to check into the issue with the Clutch Pack reatiner clips that tend to wiggle themselves out of the carrier and cause serious damage.

As for maintenance, I was reading the owners manual and it calls for front and rear axle and transaxle fluid changes every 15K miles, that seems too frequent, is that correct? Plugs look like they require changeout (16 of them!) every 30K miles. I just bought this 05 Daytona QC with 34K miles on it, so I am not sure yet it these services were every done. I do question the high frequency though.

MDS won't cause rough idle (yours likely doesn't have it anyway). How many miles? It's probably ready for its third set of plugs. How 'bout the filters, PCV valve or the EGR valve (if it has one, my '03 doesn't)?

Quick test for LSD: put one rear wheel on slippery, one on dry. Goose it (don't punch it). If it moves, it has LSD. If the slippery wheel spins, it's a peg-leg.

LSD.......well you said you were concerned about it.......15K intervals on the rear to check on those clutch pack retainers, is cheap insurance to me!
Trust me, when they go....not if......there's a heck of a lot of damage and can run into thousands of $'s!!!
Always........ ALWAYS....... open the pumpkin and inspect those rears if fitted with the crappy stock LSD.
I always change my front and rear diff fluids at 15K, even though I haven't read of any problems with the front diffs on these trucks and I also have had fitted a DTT.
Get 2 x one liter bottles of 75W 90 for the front and 3 x one liter bottles of 75W 140 for the rear. Fill both, till the front diff's just weeping out of the top fill hole and the rear is 1/4 of an inch below it.
Use any quality oils such as the stock Mopar, Royal Purple or Mobil. If you do have the LSD, if you choose the Mopar fluid (which I do as it's excellent stuff), get a small 4OZ bottle of friction modifier for the rear to eliminate the clutch chatter from the clutch packs in the LSD.
The plugs are 30K and just go with the stock Champion coppers and there are 16 of them.
Hope this helps?
Al.

Just turned 35K miles, so probably original set of plugs, have to check.

If you go to the dealer or email Chrysler for the build sheet on the truck it will tell you everything you have. The differential and gear info will also be on the sticker in the glove box.

Default 9.25 ld?

Just got the build sheet from Dodge, my Daytona has the:

DRBS Corporate 9.25 LD Rear Axle

Is this the rear axle WITHOUT the limited slip? I sure do hope so! Dont want the problems I have read about with that LSD.

Also do not have the MDS system, glad for that too.

"LD" stands for Light Duty, not anti-spin.

So, which is it. Is that the LSD or not?
