You have a 2003 Ram Torque. A prime candidate for a retaining clip failure.
Yeah, we'll see. Everything looked intact on mine at 60K. We'll see in another 10-15K if I have the funds to swap it out. Seems if I'm going to replace it, I might as well re-gear it. I'm only putting about 4200 miles a year on it so I have time to save LOL
Confirmed. Did a bunch of maintenance today, my Corporate 9.25" LD is indeed NOT an LSD! Was relieved. My mechanic friend said he has replaced bunches of those rears for customers. Put some fresh synthetic oil in the rear as well as the front, the front had non-synthetic in it and looked mucky. Cut off the Daytona dual resonator tips and installed clones that are straight. You would never know they are not stock by looking at them but they do give it a bit more throaty tone and sometime girgle. Changed out all of the spark plugs, they looked original and at 35K miles, it was obvious they center electrodes were wearing down and the gap increased - probably the reason for my multiple cylinder 2 misfire CEL's. Also replaced the coil pack for cylinder 2 just to be sure. 16 plugs replaced, the back ones were a PITA, but got it done. Thanks to all for the feedback.
O.k.,now I'm confused.my build sheet says standard equiptment corp.9.25 ld rear axle and under optional equiptment it says ANTI-SPIN DIFFERENTIAL REAR AXLE $405 does that mean I've got the P.O.S? Just noticed it's starting to leak at the front seal of the rear diff.
Yes, you have the Limited slip differential. It was an option regardless which gear ratio you have.
So you should have a 3.55 LS if the build sheet said 3.55 ratio.
I just had my pinion seal replaced under warranty.
