What the hell are you doing to your trannies? At the performance shops where I've been we are actually seeing the 545rfe as being as stout or possibly even more so than the Ford and GM full size half ton transmissions. Granted, the 1st and 2nd Gen transmissions got a really bad reputation (and deservedly so), but the 3rd Gen transmissions are probably the one thing positive that came out of Daimler (Mercedes).

Although with the higher stall and the head work, I can see you doing in 2 prime pretty easily.

The manual tranny swap has been done, but it's a lot of work...

IDK---my 2005 2500 has a six speed in it---you'll most likely have to get your pcm reprogramed too.

You might try contacting these guys http://www.keislerauto.com/ custom trannys

If your tranny only lasted a month and a half I would check and make sure the shop did what they claimed. A few years ago I had a tranny replaced at the "Stealership" in McKinney and after seeing the bill (Brand new one, not rebuilt) my bud went under and found markings from a junkyard.

If my trans was built 45 days ago and then I lost a gear, I would be right back at that shop that did the work as they obviously didnt do something correctly. No reasons (unless abused) for a rebuilt trans to go out like that

Not to switch gears from the OP, but did you go back to the dealership and tear them a new one?
