Default A/C Issues

Hey! Alright so its getting to be pretty hot out and my A/C is having issues. Over the winter it was having issues where it would only blow on high and if you turned it to blow at any other speed it shut off. It does that intermitantly now, hasn't acted up in a few weeks. But my A/C blows cold and then after the truck warms up (sometimes sooner and sometimes after) it starts blowing hot, humid air. I took it to a shop today and they said it was fully charged, not leaking, and he didn't believe there was a vacuum leak. Does this sound like a switch issue, the doors inside the dash, or what? Anyone have any experience with this or could help me out with some knowledge? Anything and everything is much appreciated!

Most likely the electric fan on condenser coil not working, it will work while driving but not at idle right?

The blower issue would be your resistor pack.

You can replace the fan or try and get it free running again. I sprayed mine with wd40 and worked all the dirt out the 2slots in the bottom ( with key off) see if that helps any.

Agree with Owensue.

Normally when the fan will work on high but not any other speed then the fan motor resistor block under the dash is shot and needs to be replaced. At full speed the motor gets 12v. At lower speeds it gets reduced voltage which is what a resistor block does, reduce voltage to control slower speeds.

Neither issue is changed by driving or not driving. The fan had the same issue going down the freeway at 70 and cruising through my neighborhood at 25. Same thing with the cold air. It would blow cold both when I was stopped and when I was driving. Its just like I'm driving down the road and then it starts getting humid in the truck and the air is no longer cold.

The fan is probably the resistor pack. It sounds like the blend door in the dash is causing the temp variation.

I haven't yet really tested it, but the mechanic said the temp variation was a relay which was shutting off the condensor. As for the fan, could I just buy a new a/c switch panel and replace the one I have now or would that be a waste of $100?

For your blower you need a 20$ resistor, that's it (most likely)
