Default RPM's acting weird

I have an 02' Ram 1500 quad cab that has been running great with little problems. Recently I had to get the ac compressor pump changed out. now less then a week later, the RPM's and gear shifting while driving seem odd. for some reason below 50 MPh the rpm's run between 1500 and 1700 and the gear shift normally. over this it seems to be running at 2000 rpm's or higher. Hits the fuel pretty hard on highway driving. seems like the gears are not shifting to a higher gear to drop the rpm's. I noticed at the lower speeds if I play with the foot peddle it seems to adjust my gear but at the higher speed not so much.
Thanks

Welcome to DF. First, before anything else, please read this.

What engine do you have?

I will move this to the 3rd gen section for you.

What engine/trans combo do you have? Perhaps something got unplugged while the change was done?
Need more info please.

There was no check engine light on and my engine is a 4.7L magnum V8 with a Multi speed auto, 45 RFE transmission. My truck tires are 270/70R17 as well.

Have a look around and make sure that there are no electrical plugs disconnected. Check the plugs on the PCM and make sure they are not loose.
