You sure can. You can fit a 14x3 round air cleaner under there and you should be able to get everything you need from any autozone, advanced or the like.

Welcome to the site!

Yeah a round will fit, but a panel filter will draw more air as well as be colder air from the fender rather than suck in hot air from sitting ontop of the engine.
Hot air=less performance. There is a reason why all newer cars use panel filters and draw from the fender.
Just a little FYI before you go spending cash.

Yeah, what he said ^^^. Hot air in is less performance (but can be better fuel mileage if it's hot DRY air).

If I were doing a round air filter, I'd be looking into a shaker hood or at least a functional scoop...

I third that, That is why they have used snorkel tubing to draw in outside cooler air for decades now. Even the old Thunderbolt Fairlanes in the early 60's used a sealed airbox with a pair of tubes hooked up to draw in air from where the bright light bulbs would have been.
But if you want one, that is fine, the base is the same size as a standard 4bbl carb (5 1/8" I think) and the 14x3 unit mentioned above will work.

you will also need to bend the threaded rod that holds the hat on top of the filter as the hole is offset in the throttle body.
