Not a major deal just be careful to watch how it all comes apart so you can put it back together correctly. The filter o-rings are a common problem if not reinstalled correctly.

I would just use the ATF+4 like came in it. it is a synthetic fluid and available at Walmart.
Valvoline, or any other name brand will work fine.

You have a 545rfe trans. ATF+4 at Walmart Can be used but is NOT reccomended by Chrysler. The reason is because Mopar ATF+4 has Lubrizol in it. The other ATF+4 do not which change the friction and surface temperatures of the clutch discs and plates. I read this entire detailed article strictly about Mopar ATF+4 trans fluid.

If I replace fluid in my truck, it will be with either Mopar ATF+4 or a complete flush using a Full Sythetic as Mopar ATF+4 is actually Not Sythetic, but a semi-Synthetic if you will. The Lubrizol is used to cheat around using Synthetic all while saving Chrysler money.

Pan hold 7.5qts I think? Entire system is upwards of 17-18qts for a flush.

2wd and 4wd filters are different. If you unhook the retun line going into the transmission, put it into a bucket and just start your truck until the fluid gets sputery. That empties out your trans pan and makes dropping the pan a zero mess job!!!

Walmart sells Mopar ATF+4, that's what I was referring too. Sorry for the confusion.

If it says ATF+4 on the bottle your OK. If it says Compatible with ATF+4 then NO, NOT OK. The licensed ATF+4 requires Lubrizol formulations or the bottle can't be stamped. Compatible is Not ATF+4. I just want to make sure nobody uses the wrong stuff. Tranny's aren't cheap.

HERE is a list. Pretty much covers most brands anways.
