Sounds like you're referring to "PosiTraction", which is a GM term, I think. For us, it's Anti-Spin. Gears by themselves don't do that. It's a separate mechanism. Most folks seem to go for a Detroit True Trac or the Auburn unit. The hardware runs about $600, I think. Labor is about $300 maybe.

With a 2WD, 4.7 odds are you probably already have a 3.55 gear ratio ring and pinion.

What are you trying to accomplish?

I would look for a complete rear from a hemi with the 3:92 gears and posi traction if you can find one pretty cheap. Swapping just the ring and pinion will do nothing other than change the ratio if you get different gears, the posi-traction comes from the carrier the ring gear bolts to. They come with single wheel pull called an open caqrrier, or with posi-traction, anti-spin, or whatever dodge calls it. You will have to set-up the gears again to change carriers which will be costly.

If it's a LSD you are wanting, a gear change is not necessary. BUT, the last LSD I'd want would be a Mopar one...

Just get you an Auburn LSD and have it installed. The unit is about $400, installation shouldn't be bad, about an hour.

You won't have to worry about the C-Clips breaking and blowing up the carrier like a Mopar and it performs just like it should. Locks up when you need it and you don't even know it's there when you don't...

Not all.
Gotta check your build sheet/glove box/stamp on axle to see if it states lsd.

Sooooo, you're looking for launch then.

4.56 or 4.88 Gears and an Auburn Pro Series LSD. The pro series is a higher bias, close as you can get to locking the axles without doing so.

In my area you'd be talkin' about $600 for the ring & pinion, install kit & labor, plus about $450 for the LSD.

That's the combo all the track guys around here have...
