Default P1521 Oil engine type or Transmission Engaged at High Throttle Angle

Hi,

I have a dodge ram 2006 hemi 5.7v8, and code P1521 pops up.
If I go to my garage they say the errorcode represent Transmission Engaged at High Throttle Angle, but the code pops up when I start the
engine, and not while driving... So I looked on the internet and lots of people state that P1521 is incorrect oiltype....

Can anyone tell me what is the real meaning of this errorcode ?

Thanks !!

cheers,

Patrick

What oil viscosity are you using?

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the reply !

I don´t know what oil viscosity my garage did put in.

Does this code mean wrong oil for my car or does it mean the transmission problem ? If I know it means wrong oil, I better just change the oil, only my mechanic says that the other reason pops up out of his reader....

The people at the garage you went to must not too bright or were lazy?? There are different codes for individual manufacturers and then there are universally used codes.

p1521 for CHRYSLER is an incorrect oil viscosity type. My 2008 has the wrong oil in it(purposely) and it does not set the check engine light, but it does show P1521 if the starscan tool is used. I'm surprised you are seeing anything!

GM is the transmission high angle code.

Thanks dirtydog !!

Will tell them at the garage what you told me, and change the oil then to the one with the correct viscosity. Or can it be because of the high temprature we are facing at the moment, that I get that message ?

Thanks a lot !

Default P1521.

I got this on my 2006 Ram truck. I had the dodge dealer change the oil, and put the correct viscosity in the truck. 3500 miles later, the engine light came on. Went to Auto Quest and got P1521 code. Even though I have the right oil. I am not going to worry about this. Truck is running fine. Just have your mechanic turn of the light and see what happens after you have the right oil.

Default P1521, Multiple errors or causes?

I have a 2006 Dodge ram hemi 5.7 L with approximately 90,000 miles on it!

I recently scanned the truck and came up with a P1521 error code along with the P0 700 and P0 750!

In this thread it’s mention that there could be a Transmission related pause to the P1521
e

That spark my interest primarily because I’ve had a issue with the transmission ever since I put in a new solenoid pack about a year ago! Needless to say I was unaware that you had to go to the dealership to have them calibrate the new solenoid pack in the transmission, Also had a bad fuel pump at about 85,000 that was a bundle to replace!

So I took it into the dealership and had to fuel tank replaced or fuel pump in addition I had them use the scan tool to try and reset the P0 750 and P0 700 codes, Unfortunately they did not or were not able to reset the codes for the new solenoid pack!

They told me it was a wiring issue and there’s most likely a cramp wire between the PCM and the transmission!

I mention the transmission is because somebody had mentioned that it could be Re part of that era code P1521 not just the oil viscosity type!
I am currently able to drive with the transmission although it’s 70 miles an hour the RPMs are 3k no ability to go into overdrive unless I replace entire cable harness and hope it fixes the solonoid issue!

so with respect to the P1521 air code for the wrong Engine oil type I believe mine could be caused by the transmission issue or in the last two Fills on the gas tank, i’ve been adding The techron fuel additive for fuel injection cleaning not sure if that has anything to do with it or not
