Default tranny problems

i have an '02 4.7 2wd 1500, in the morn headin down the road the tranny shifts hard and somtimes premature, after sitting all day at work i jump in start it up and come to the stop sign in the parking lot at that moment the damn thing clunks into, i think 3rd gear, and sits there in that gear when i take off, the only thing i can do is to pull over put it in park turn the engine off wait 30 seconds er so and restart, now it will go through all the gears normaly, but rough shiftin like the morn. if any body has and idea bout what, the average price for the fix, or if i can do it my self.

Try to post in the regional section too as someone from your area might know of a good shop,

Have you had the fluids and filters changed yet?
Do you have any codes?
