I agree with what the others have posed as far as products to use and the differences.

I, as well as most of the people on here, would recommend that you don't let the dealer do this work for you. All of this work is pretty straight forward, pretty easy, and can be done in your driveway with hand tools. The dealer price will make you realize quick fast and in a hurry why you should do it yourself.

Just as an FYI:
The dealer quoted price for my 30K tune up (pretty much everything you had indicated you wanted to do + plugs and throttle body cleaning) was $1k after disposal fees. I bought all of stuff and did it myself, including a couple tools and aftermarket transmission pan and diff cover and still came out ~$300+ ahead (the aftermarket parts were kinda expensive) I could have done it for approx $300 pretty easily, and that's using top tier synthetics everywhere.

One more thing: Don't do the fluid work the night before you leave. Do it at least a week before. It's easier to fix a problem in your driveway than it is at 2:00 in the morning on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere.

Thank you for helping those folks. They've sure had a hard time of it lately.

Yeah that's an excellent point, Mikey. If I'm lighting out on a friday or saturday, I'll give up the weekend before for any maintenance work. About the only thing besides gassing up I'll leave to the last minute is airing the tires up a bit for better mileage on the interstates...

all u guys just rock for all the info. i am by no means a mechanic. i can though change oil and rotors and brakes. i don't like fooling with stuff too much but i did manage to put a k&n cai on by myself and didn't mess nothing up. that was actually a first that i didn't mess nothing up, because everytime i worked on one of my old trucks something else broke. so i just take to a friend of mine who has a garage and let him do it. saved me money ever since lol.

i think i am gonna just stick with mopar tranny fluid for the tranny and transfer case and put rp in the front and rear and have my friend do the work so i don't screw nothing up again lol. i am using mobil 1 5w 20 right now in the motor. i found out last week that we will be getting a u-haul because we have target and dollar general donating alot of stuff. i have also got some great furniture for them too. some guys may not want to hear this but god has been great in opening the doors for us to get things together for Joplin.
