My pinion seal is leaking. I've got fluid on the diff case itself and on the side of my fuel tank from it being slung around...Apparently this is a very common problem from what I am reading. I have swapped seals before, but I'm needing a shop to do this one...Do you guys think I should take it to the dealership and get it done or take it to a transmission shop? I know which one will be cheaper, but I dont want them to screw something up either...Anybody else on here had a regular shop replace on?

I noticed you said $800 for the "correct" way of fixing it...any idea what people spend on average to get this fixed? I know if I did it myself I would be looking at $100 or less...

 

Prob around $300. $2 for Labor and $1 for parts/fluid.

You can get a double lipped seal fom NAPA for $10 and [2.25qts fr open diff] 75w-140 Synthetic($60) or [2qts and a bottle of modifier($45) for LSD]
