K&N Filters
Buyer Beware. I bought a K&N air filer just two days ago and i wasn't really happy about the outcome. It had no performance gain, and others have said they dyno'ed at 3 less horse. Once you get it, dont expect much gain unless you have a chip or reprogrammer in order to make your computer tuned for it. But i payed 48 bucks for mine.
I got mine at PepBoys for around $42 or so if I remember right. I agree you won't feel much power gain, but I did get 1-1.5 more mpg, plus normal ones are about $15 each, and replace them every 15k or so, you'll still be money ahead.
It seems like small items like this can be had for about the same price as online when considering the shipping charges. You might want to look at some of the site sponsors though, I've not priced one in a while.

I've had problems with them contaminating my MAF in some GM products. Other than that, I don't think I'd feel 5hp either way, so I don't bother. I'll stick to good quality paper filters.
I'm wondering if when the K&N filter is installed, the ECC is reset so the computer will tune the engine to the new air flow available, and it will make a more substantial difference than just dropping the filter in does. I don't have a dyno available any where around me (the sticks of northern IN), so the only real conclusion I could draw would be from MPG. Has anyone out there done this yet?
