Default 2006 Ram 1500 Cruise Control Issues...

Hello all, I have a 2006 Ram 1500 with the 5.7L Hemi. The cruise control will not turn on under 65mph and if I have cruise on and my speed goes under 65mph (like going up a hill.), the cruise turns itself off.

Any suggestions on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

Vacuum leak or a bad check valve. The cruise control system is supplied by a vacuum reservoir and if there is a cracked hose, split end or the check valve in it is faulty, the system will not function until you attain a speed at which there is enough engine vacuum built up.

Thank you for the reply...

I noticed today that it will only go into cruise between the speeds of 65 and 70. If I'm going any slower or faster, it does nothing at all....

Would that still be a vacuum problem?

Bad speed sensor on the left front wheel hub.

If you have a Hemi, the pcm controls the speed thru the drive by wire throttlebody.

I had a new hub put on under warranty and it had a bad sensor out of the box. My cruise wouldn't even power up.

speed sensor was my first thought

could just be dirty, but then if so, that means your hub is dirty and might need to be replaced as well. It's a sealed unit.

Yeah, if it's a vacuum leak it shouldn't stop working again over 70 mph.

Ok, so now when I hit a bump with the left front tire I get an ABS light, a Park Brake Light and my speedometer stops working. Turning the truck off and back on resets it...

Flipping the key 3 times gets me the following codes: P0700, U1417 and U1418

Not sure what those mean...

I have an appointment Saturday at the garage... hopefully they can make all this go away... =/
