2005 5.7 blew code P0406

Default 2005 5.7 blew code P0406

The code means Exhaust Gas recirc sensor A Circuit high. Thats what came up on the obd tool,what would this do to the performance of the truck? thanks

usually means the EGR valve is bad and needs replaced. It can cause hesitations and possible detonation when it malfunctions.

agreed ^ most likely the egr valve. Is it running or idling differently than usual?

why would it come up exhaust gas recirculation(egr)if it don't have one?just curious?mine was built in late 05,but it's an 06,i know the body is slightly different,when my egr went it stalled at stops.

It does idle a little rough i thought it would be the plugs that was before it blew the code.Also hesitates when crusin at 70 km/h sometimes even sounds like it misfires.

how much would you guys estimate this costing me parts labour or is it farly easy?

had it replaced for $180 today runs better and gas milage went up also.

You did'nt say how many miles are on your truck or what you have done.Spark plugs etc.I get my parts at cost from Dodge I think I paid about $53.for my egr.they retail alot more but you should be able to get one from a local auto parts store non oem for around $45 I'd guess,simple install.Clean your T.B and run at least 89oct.
