Default Transfer case help.

So my truck was leaking at the output shaft seal. I changed it and it is leaking worse. Its gotta be the extension housing or the driveshaft yoke. I have a new extension housing coming but I am not sure about the gasket between the t-case and the extension. I downloaded weeds part numbers but it doesnt show anything. Anyone? I guess ill check the driveshaft yoke also. It had a nick in it, but not bad. new seal seemed to go in fine but i nicked the were it seats a little with the seal puller.

Well I guess it would depend on how bad the gouge or nick is. Maybe the seal is bad (new one)

ya i was gonna pull the driveshaft and make sure the little spring in the seal didnt come out. I dont think it did. driveshaft slide in pretty easy and straight.

You probably seated the seal crooked? It doesn't take much. As for the nick, get yourself a double lipped seal and that will eliminate your problem. As long as the nick is inward(meaning use emery paper to smooth the outer edge, you shouldn't have any problems. I would advise against using jb weld, but it's your truck. I only say this because you would actually have to roughen the inside of the nick for the JB to stick to and if it ever broke loose and went inside your trans, it could cause problems, maybe I'm just being a sally?...lol

Well its finally fixed. I tried two different national output shaft seals (part #4333N). Still leaked after each. So I bought a new extension housing with a OEM seal in it.

While I had both housings and seals side by side and the driveshaft out, I slide each over the yoke and the aftermarket seal didnt fit nearly as snug as the oem.

So if your replacing your seal with this Part may want to check before you install. I did the hole housing and seal in 30 min compared to 2 hrs fighting with just the aftermarket seal. Anyway no more leak.
