10:00 am-Hey florida Ram, how did you get those switches off without breaking them? i have cracked two of them and am scared to jack around with them anymore. im thinking i might just do what caseys did and jump the wires.

11:30 am nevermind figured it out...my idea was just to throw a new assembly in at the junkyard...if it worked fantastic...but yards around me dont have a truck as "new" as mine.

1:00pm-Broke it all down, expanded the spring, cleaned up the grease a bit=didnt work. brought it back inside, expanded all three springs cleaned all of the grease in the module, and hooked it back up and it worked. put the first set of screws on and it worked still, put the caps back on and the last 3 screws and then it stopped working mid rear windown roll up. Just as i do that AC make a horrible sound and sound slike a leaf blower in my dash as i hear pieces of my vents blowing around in there from the ****ty dash board. walking away now and grabbing a beer before i blow it up. i guess shes just getting to that age where all the little annoying things go wrong.

Removing button covers
Calvert,

I used needle nose pliers to pry up the button covers, as described in Denniss66's instructions. It took quite a bit of prying and a couple of the button covers actually shot across the room when they finally let go...definitely required quite a bit of force to remove them.

I recently heard a noise inside my AC, too. Then bits of gray foam started blowing out of the dash vent closest to the passenger door. As you stated, I think the trucks are just getting old. With your truck being in Phoenix and mine in Florida, the daily sun exposure does not help. I have always used one of those silver sun shades to try and keep the interior cooler and protect my dash......which ended up cracking anyway, twice!

Well I fixed the windows by just jumping the wire from the two pins. I recomend just doing that instead of breaking down the whole assembly. Its much easier and a whole lot faster. Yeah i baby my truck, bought a dash cover, put the sun shade in and my dash is still horrible. I'm ok wirh cosmetic stuff going wrong I guess so long as mechanically she continues to run like a beast.

Sounds like a motor problem.

More likely a broken wire in the door harness. Seems to be a common thing.

just got done tearing the rear pass. door apart, 4 wires completely broke, 2 almost in two, and the other 2 not far from it. trying to decide if i want to get a new wire harness or splice em, dont like the idea of a splice where i already have a bending issue. anybody know where you can get the button covers, i broke one on the driver door...........

Quote: You'll find two broken solder joints on the window lock switch. Fairly easy, 30-40 minutes. Just touch up the connections and add a bit of solder.
Woohoo victory! fixed my wife's truck today saving $100, thanks to all who posted tips about this repair.

Quote: So I finally tested my switch today and as I played with the window lockout, sometimes I'd get continuity. Instead of taking apart the switch anymore I did what Denniss66 said, and jumpered pin 9 and pin 8 together. Mine was also a Tan wire and a yellow wire. Now all doors have fully functioning window controls. The lockout feature doesn't work anymore but that isn't an issue for me.

I think im going to do the same to mine, its gotten to be a pain in my butt!
