Default Replacement key help...............

I have a 2008 dodge ram 1500 and I lost one of the 3 button keys . I still have one and thats fine. Can I get a regular key without the lock unlock panic buttons to use as a spare in case I lock the other one in or lose it..Or do I have to buy a new 3 button key.........also if anyone has any ideas where to get the 3 button and the cost for key and programming..I know Im not buying the 3 button from the stealership..Thanks

Well, the problem is that you need TWO keys in order to program a third. Since you lost one of the originals, you need to go to the dealer and bend over. You can still save money and buy a key online, but if the cut is incorrect or it won't program, then you just paid the dealer for nothing.(rarity)
I myself purchased a basic key before losing one and paid $1 at the hardware store for the cut. It's just a rams head and has no lock/unlokc crap on it so it's sleek and slender and fits in my pocket with ease. Since I have an aftermarket remote start, I don't need the lock/unlock as my starter came with a fobb for that.
You might be better off buying a remote starter and having the dealer install it as it might come with a new key with the buttons.
Again, you can program ANY key as long as it's Sentry II.

Here is a basic you can have programmed and cut. I only paid $24 shipped for my Rams head key, just gotta shop around.

how much does the dealership charge to program the basic key...I wont buy a 3 button unless it is cheap as I dont need 2 of them just a basic spare to run the vehicle if I lose the other 3 button fob

Some will do a key if you bring it in, others won't. They'll prob hit you for $100. I would suggest after getting the new one programmed to buy another and program that one yourself so you have 3 keys in the end. Once the dealer provides 2 programmed keys, you can program as many as you want for free. Do it to save more headache later. It'll cost just the price of the key and cut.

One more question..If I buy the new keys and get them cut but dont get them programmed yet...will they still unlock the doors...I was thinking of buying them and maybe in a few weeks get them programmed so I dont have to take the big hit all at once....

They will still unlock the door physically but not via wireless.
