Default Another 06 Ram (possible) Tranny problem

I have been dealing with problems with my transmission for close to a year now. I have a 2006 Sport with the 545rfe transmission.

I had the torque coverter, solenoid pack replaced and the transmission re-built about 6 months ago. Everything seemed to be fine until a few weeks ago when the truck started stalling. Now whenever the truck has sat (30+ minutes) it will stall when going into drive...it will start right back up but will then "jump" or "surge" when it is put back into drive...the first few shifts will feel "sluggish" but after it gets moving and runs for a few minutes all seems fine until it is shut off and sits again.

I have tried the basics (cleaning the throttle body, replaced the EGR valve and all that good stuff)

Does this sound like a drain back issue with the torque coverter? or what could it be?

Have you taken back the shop or person who did the job? And long is the warranty on the transmission?

There is a check valve in the pressure line for the trans cooler according to dodge if you take it off you shouldn't be able to blow thru the line with your mouth

I am taking it back to the shop that did the work today...I have paperwork saying there is a 12K mile/1 year warranty on parts and labor.

I was just trying to get some ideas of what may be causing it before I speak with them

Drain back of the converter would cause the trans to not engage until it filled up. So not a drain back issue. What is the idle rpm? Does it dip low and then stall? Or is it sudden? Sounds IAC related to me. If it is a sudden stall, could be the converter clutch is trying to apply. There is a flash for idle undershoot, but I doubt it would fix this concern.

I hope someone weighs in on this, mine does the same thing. Truck sits for an hour. Start up, put in gear and nothing. Finally grabs, moves then stalls. Start back up no more problems.

Well the mechanic who did the work has been on vacation but will be back tomorrow so we will see what he has to say about it...

cjdautomotive:

It idles about 600 RPM...on most instances it is a sudden stall. On some occasions the idle will dip very low then the truck will "shudder" and "jerk" and then go into gear.
Something else that has been happening on occasion is when i put the truck into reverse and let off the gas it will not roll on its own...when i apply the gas i have to apply more than normal to get it to move (if that makes sence...basically it makes noise but barely moves lol)...it is almost like reverse is not "fully engaged" if that is possible.

If I understand correctly from 2006 on there is no IAC on the 5.7?

This thing is driving me nuts!

Well I have a bit of an update.

Took the truck to the transmission shop that originally rebuilt the transmission. He claims that he could not get the truck to act up but he did add 3/4 quart of transmission fluid (he says that the new clutch packs absorb fluid over time...)
He also told me the issue was likely an "air bubble" that is "driving the computer crazy"...I really dont know what to think of that.

So I take the truck home and it is still stalling after it sits...also I noticed another problem to add to the stalling issue.

When I stop the the transmission does not seem to "come out of gear" fast enough and will nearly stall...then you feel a "jerk" and then back to normal idle.

Anyone out there have any possible solutions to this problem?
