Default Hood compatibility

Hello

Are all 02-08 ram hoods interchangable?

I have an 06 ram 3500 big horn. I messed up the hood while trying to earn a darwin award...I bought a hood from an 03 ram to replace the damaged hood on my truck. The body shop says it is too small and will not fit. They tell me it is 1/2 inch narrow on sides.

Apparently there are a few part numbers for hoods in these years:
55275733AA
55275733AB
55275733AD
55275733AE
55275733AF

Any idea if there is a difference in these part numbers? What are supersedence numbers indicating?

I dunno, we have a few people around who are Chrysler mechanics, maybe one or two will chime in.

But something doesn't sound kosher to me. I replaced a hood for a buddy last year with an '06 Ram 1500 and when I ordered the hood for him from LMC Truck, they listed the $199 hood as interchangeable for all 2002-2008 1500s and all 2003-2008 2500/3500s. So it doesn't sound right that you would get a hood off an '03 and it not fit.

You sure it's not off an '02 (2nd Gen body style)???

Thanks for the input.

It does not sound right to me either. I am out of state away from the body shop / truck right now but will check it out friday and report back. The body shop claimed the SLT big horn edition which I have takes a larger hood.

I owned a 2nd gen ram like jasons above and am sure it is not from a 2nd gen.

The hood I bought has a 2003 emissions plackard on the bottom and matches the standard shape of the 02-08 OEM ram hoods. It is not a cowl hood like ram air.

I said I would report back so here it is.
I had been advised by the body shop that the 2003 hood I had purchased as a replacement for my 2006 3500 ram QCLB was too small. The body shop said we needed to buy another hood (which was more expensive). I was out of town all last week, but told the body shop I was going to have to see it for myself as my research indicated all 2002-2008 1500's and 2003-2008 2500 and 3500 hoods were the same despite different supersedence part numbers.
When I got to the body shop friday, they had finished repairs on my truck. The body shop advised my hood was not the same, but they were able to "trade my hood with a local boy who had the correct hood."
Sounded fishy to me.

Sounds REAL fishy to me. I think they gave you the first line before they actually tried it, then when they found it did fit, they had to come up with a story...

The SRT-10 hood seems to fit 2002-2008.
