remote starter/keyless entry WTF?!?!
Ok- My 03' Ram 1500 has been at Circuit City all day. They're putting in the Python remote starter/keyless entry in it. I bought the bypass module off of ebay (model 555C) even though I don't need it because I don't have the grey sentry key. Anyhow, they just informed me that it's installed but not working right. The motor wont turn over for some reason- either with and without the bypass module. They have no idea why- but it's not working. WTF?!? So I told them to pull the whole thing off and refund me.
Does anyone out there have a similar system that works? I'd like the remote starter but it's not necessary. The keyless entry is what I need. Any ideas?

viper system works just fine in mine . might want to go to another mom & pop install place and see if theyt have installed any that have had positive feedback. Circuit City almost fried my whole wiring system in my mustang b/c they wired something wrong puttin the alarm/remote start in it. Needless to say they wont touch any vehicle of mine ever again.

LOL when I was 16 I worked at Circuit City in Instilation Station the Manager would hire anybody that would work for 8.50 an hour and knew somethings about sterio and alarm instilation. Dont let Best Buy, Circuit City or any of those Wall Mart like stores install anything on your car. Get your money back and go to a STERIO SHOP where they have people that know how to do those kinds of things. Good Luck.

Sometimes, the problem is "too obvious"... I've heard nothing but good things about Python and other offerings from DEI.. I'd say it's the installer.. Not the product itself.. Maybe they forgot to reconnect the battery... It happens..
My suggestion would be go to an "Authorized Seller/Installer"... Even if you didn't buy the product from them, they know how to install it the right way without leafing through the manual to see what wire goes where. (You're basically paying someone else to do what you could do yourself at that point.) Authorized Seller/Installers are also alot better at troubleshooting, should something not work right... Bad relay? Maybe a loose wire harness? They usually don't call you to say "It won't work." They call you when it's ready...
Are you going to pay more than you would at Circuit City or some other outlet store? Most likely... But you're paying to have the job done right the first time instead of having it work at the shop, then not work the first time you hit a bump.. Then work again if you hit the dash in just the right spot... Get the picture?

Hey thanks for the feedback fellas- They said that there was a problem when they started it-- it wouldn't turn over for some reason and they supposedly called everyone in the area to find out why. [sm=bs.gif]I just had them install the Valet keyless entry instead. Everything works fine. Anyhow, I'll take it as a learned lesson and never send my truck to them again. A good friend of mine works for Best Buy and he really knows his stuff. But he lives in a different state. So I figured I'd take my chances with the big stores... oh well.... what do I need with a remote starter in southern California anyway right?

well...I been thinking about getting this also...Since they ALMOST got it working...I'd look at the product 1st...You say you got something from ebay...I'd point at that 1st..then installer 2nd...but a close 2nd..cause if he was good he shoulda said, maybe that's y it was for sale on ebay..cause it didnt work right...I've been burnt...only 1 time on ebay myself...but I think i'll bring it to a local stereo dealer when I get mine...Take Care
