Default 2003 ram 1500?

i have a 03 ram 1500 with the 5.9 gas. i go to my mechanic because it has been getting a little warm. he tells me that my clutch is bad on my fan and it should be under warenty. so i call my local dodge dealer and he says i have the 3/36 coverage but that is all he could tell me without their mechanics looking at it. my question is if their mechanic says its bad will this part and labor be covered or am i still gonna have to pay for this clutch fan. if so ill let my own mechanic do it for 170$ cause i know that the most dealers are rip offs! if anybody knows thanks for the input!!

warranty = no cash out of your pocket...unless they are a shady dealer. if they try to get you to pay for anything go to your mechanic.

the 3/36 should cover everything......as I understand it, it is a bumper to bumper warranty....any other thoughts?

3/36 covers everything except normal wear and tear items - belts/tires/pads etc. A fan like you describe should be considered part of the cooling system and I would expect that to be covered under the 3/36 blanket.

If they try to charge you, have them explain why there is a charge, then have them show you in writing how what they are saying is described in the 3/36.

You should walk away with a free repair IMO.

As other have said, If you are under 36K, parts and labor will be free. If over 36K there is a $100 deductable for the 7/70, assuming the clutch would be covered under the 7/70.

Don't be surprised if your dealer doesn't change the fan clutch. It's possible, but I'd bet money that's not what's causing the problem.

thank you all for the input, and DonG it actually does make sense that its the fan clutch cause it gets hot when i drive not at a idle with temps here at 95 and the ac on. i think when im driving the air flow slows down the fan so its not really cooling of the engine as much.could be wrong but i dont klnow. the coolant is good radiator is good so is the water pump, and so is the thermostat. this truck only has 29.500 miles so its in really good condition. any input of anything else causing it is appreciated!

I have a 2003 ram with the Hemi. If I am not mistaken don't you have a 7 yr warranty on the drive train as opposed to the new trucks with only 5yr on the drive train. This should cover your problem.

The new warranty starts with the 06 model I have an 05 and it has the 7/ 70000 power train and 3/36000 bumper to bumper. As far as the fan clutch, the way i see it is its between the bumpers. How many miles on your 03 belive me they will check if under 36000 your covered for both parts and labor.
